Let me tell you a little bit about how this all began...

I remember the first diet I ever went on.
I was in fourth grade. Hormone fluctuations were just beginning, and I felt very insecure with the changes happening to my body. I'm not exactly sure what prompted me to take this approach, probably some TV show or magazine. But I took out my shiny purple school planner and wrote "FOOD IS POISON" every day, and I vowed to eat as little of it as possible.
Thankfully my willpower as a 10 year old to follow through was very low, and quickly let it go when that no longer became appealing.
But that was the start of a YEARS-long battle between myself and food. I'd gain weight, lose weight. Cut out this, binge on that. Stop caring entirely, track everything meticulously. It was a constant cycle until it truly affected me in a way that stopped me in my tracks when I was 26 - I couldn't get pregnant.
Now I was serious. Now doctors were involved. Now I felt like I was disappointing not only myself, but my husband as well. It sunk in how little I understood my body and I was paying the price. I tried everything but my weight never budged. I kept asking myself:
"Why is managing my weight so hard, and how do I know which choice is right?"
So I researched relentlessly. Some of it was bunk, but some things started to connect. Eventually, I started coming across more information that dialed in on nutrition recommendations for my specific health concerns. I read more about the best exercises for my PCOS and how to properly fuel your body for exercise. I learned more about the impact stress and sleep has on hormone regulation and fertility. Weight was only a small piece of the puzzle. I realized the question I was asking was all wrong. What I wish I had considered sooner:
Why is managing my HEALTH so hard, and how do I know which choice is right FOR ME?
Like many girls who grew up in the 90s and early aughts, the only messaging I ever saw were weight centric, one size fits all diets and fads. We were never taught how to put the various components of health together for ourselves. It completely blew my mind to see the moment I stopped focusing on my weight and truly nourished my body, my health problems began to resolve. That's because health is individualized. And focusing on lifestyle shifts rather than restrictions lead to more sustainable, longer lasting results.
The profound impact of that realization is what led me here to start this practice. This is what has become my mission:
